Ayodhya: A local Bharatiya Janata Party leader has called for regular searches of mosques in Ayodhya and the logging of all visitors’ details, citing security concerns following the recent Red Fort blast and ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s scheduled visit to the city on November 25.
BJP spokesperson Rajneesh Singh has written to the prime minister, urging the immediate closure of all madrasas in Ayodhya and a halt to Friday prayers.
In his letter dated November 18, Singh demanded that mosques be periodically searched and that comprehensive records be maintained of everyone visiting them. He further said that all mosques should have CCTV cameras installed, with live access shared with the local police station.
Rajneesh Singh also alleged that terrorist elements were operating covertly and expanding their activities under the cover of religious sites.
