Jaipur: After the surprise announcements inm Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh, BJP names fresh face in Rajasthan too as next chief minister, IANS reported.
The party named first-time MLA Bhajan Lal Sharma as the new CM, which also turned out to be a surprise. Sharma was elected from Sanganer in Jaipur district. He was only an office-holder in the BJP state unit.
BJP also named former MP Diya Kumari and Prem Chand Bairwa as Deputy Chief Ministers of Rajasthan.
Bhajan Lal Sharma had defeated the Congress's Pushpendra Bharadwaj by over 48,000 votes, reports The Indian Express. He had served as Rajasthan BJP's General Secretary four times.
He has a Master's degree in Politics from Rajasthan University, was booked in one criminal case and has declared assets worth 1.4 crore.
It was learned that former chief minister of the state Vasundhara Raje herself proposed Sharma's name when she was running for the seat.
