Uttar Pradesh: In a fresh case of violence against a woman in BJP-ruled Uttar Pradesh, a woman teacher was attacked in broad daylight by a Class 12 student, who cut off her lips using a sharp weapon, The Free Press Journal (TFPJ) reported.
Uttar Pradesh was the state with the largest number of crimes recorded in the latest report by the National Crime Records Bureau.
The attack against the teacher happened in the Sadar Kotwali area, where the teacher was ambushed while on her way to conduct a private tuition class, according to TFPJ.
In the shocking incident, the student ambushed the teacher on the road, blocked her path, had a brief argument and attacked her with the weapon before cutting her lips off. The teacher got severely injured, and the accused fled the scene, leaving her bleeding immediately after the attack.
The victim was taken to the district hospital first and later transferred to Agra. Her condition is critical, according to reports.
A CCTV footage of the incident is viral on social media, where moments up to the attack were captured. The visuals show the accused forcefully restraining the victim, and these have triggered huge outrage on social media.
A social media user named Aarav alleged that the student had been harassing and stalking the teacher for a long period despite her changing schools, routes and even after complaints were raised by her family. But the police did not act on them.
There are reports that the student had molested and harassed the teacher earlier at a school where she was working. She changed schools after continuous harassment, but the accused kept stalking her.
