New Delhi: Support is continuing to grow for the first public protest called by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), with student groups, activists and public figures from different parts of the country expressing solidarity with the movement ahead of its June 6 demonstration.
The Students' Federation of India (SFI) has announced that its Delhi secretary, Aishe Ghosh, will participate in the protest after accepting an invitation from the organisers. While the organisation has not yet decided on mass mobilisation, representatives of the left student group AISA are also expected to join the agitation. Efforts are reportedly underway to organise solidarity programmes in Kerala and other regions.
The movement has also attracted support from prominent personalities. Social activist Sonam Wangchuk had earlier announced his participation, and actor Prakash Raj has now indicated that he will try to travel to Delhi to join the demonstration.
Amid growing attention, CJP spokesperson Vijeta Dahiya clarified that the platform does not intend to transform itself into a conventional political party. Instead, it plans to function as a collective that takes up socially relevant issues. Dahiya also expressed confidence that the initiative could find support in Kerala and extended invitations to well-known personalities from the state, including actor Fahadh Faasil.
Congress MP Shashi Tharoor has also weighed in on the debate. In an article published in a leading English daily, he argued that youth-led dissent should not remain confined to social media discussions and symbolic online engagement. He stressed the need for sustained democratic pressure on elected representatives and governing institutions to secure meaningful change.
According to organiser Abhijeet Dipke, thousands of people from across the country have expressed willingness to participate through messages and phone calls. The protest has been organised around allegations of irregularities in the NEET examination and CBSE evaluation process, with participants demanding accountability and the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
