New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Wednesday dismissed former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia’s review petition after ‘carefully perused’ it, LiveLaw reported.
The review petition was submitted against the court’s October 30 judgment that denied bail to Sisodia who is accused of involvement in alleged irregularities in Delhi government’s controversial liquor policy.
Dismissing the petitions, a bench of Justices Sanjiv Khanna and SVN Bhatti said ‘We have carefully perused review petitions as also the grounds in support thereof.’
They added that ‘In our opinion, no case for review of the judgment dated 30.10.2023 is made out.’
The Aam Aadmi Party leader was arrested on February 26 after the Central Bureau of Investigation and Enforcement Directorate have accused him of involvement in alleged irregularities.
The Aam Aadmi administration when Sisodia heading the excise department allegedly modified ‘the liquor excise policy to ensure a 12% profit margin for wholesalers and a nearly 185% profit margin for retailers’.
The Enforcement Directorate accused AAP leaders of receiving at least Rs 100 crore in kickbacks from South Group through businessman Vijay Nair.
‘South Group’, according to the agency, ‘secured uninhibited access, attained stakes in established wholesale businesses and multiple retail zones [over and above what was allowed in the policy].’
Denying bail to Sisodia on October 30, the court directed the trail to be completed within six to eight months.
