Udaipur/Rajasthan: A woman, who was returning from delivering tiffin to her husband, was hypnotised and robbed in broad daylight in Udaipur, Free Press Journal reported.
The woman reportedly lost gold worth 4.5 lakhs, a mobile phone, and cash last Friday in the city’s Surajpol police station area.
CCTV footage showed the woman following the instructions of the thugs for about seven minutes.
Afterwards, they sprayed a liquid on her hand which caused her to lose consciousness.
The victim, identified as Rekha Jain, reportedly said that she handed tiffin to her husband and went to Delhi Gate crossing to buy grocery items when two individuals stopped her.
They asked her if she had ever been to Mathura and she said no and then they asked which god she believed in, she replied she believed in Lord Mahavir Swami.
It is reported that after this Rekha lost her senses and handed over her belongings to them.
Police reportedly said that she mentioned Lord Mahavir Swami and handed them 50 rupees from her purse, thinking it was for a religious cause.
One of the thieves took the 50-rupee note from her hand, and the other placed it back in her hand.
In just a few seconds afterwards, Rekha lost consciousness and followed their instructions.
Rekha's husband, Deepak claimed his wife as saying after regaining consciousness that the thugs had sprayed a liquid on her hands and head.
As they were conversing one of the thugs repeatedly touched the feet of the other calling him guru.
The CCTV footage also corroborates the details provided by Rekha to the police. The police are now searching for the criminals involved.
