Dwarka: As the Gujarat Assembly elections are scheduled in December 2022, Rahul Gandhi reached the state to blueprint the Congress's strategy offered prayers at the Dwarkadhish temple, PTI reported.
Rahul is in the state to take part in Gujarat Congress' brainstorming session, Chintan Shivir, which commenced on Friday and is charted to end on Sunday. The leader's visit is viewed as part of the campaign for the impending polls in the state, which has remained a BJP camp for a long.
After Rahul's landing in Dwarka in a helicopter, he was received by senior Congress leaders in the state Gujarat Congress president Jagdish Thakor, former state president Amit Chavda, Leader of Opposition in the Assembly Sukhram Rathva etc., among others.
He had visited Lord Krishna's Dwarkadhish temple. He was welcomed with traditional folk dance, he received tilak, wore 'dhaja' the religious flag and performed puja, Gujarat Congress' Kisan Cell president, Pal Ambalia.
Rahul spent time with the party's local members inside the temple, eating snacks and later left for the party's brainstorming session. He might address the session this time.
Rahul had visited the temple in 2017, too, ahead of the Gujarat polls.
Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh will go to its 5th phase of polls on Sunday. There are three more phases left, two on March 3 and 7. March will announce the results of Assembly polls run in a collection of states recently.
