Punjab Police's intelligence office attacked with RPG

Chandigarh: The Punjab Polices' intelligence office in Mohali came under grenade attack on Monday evening, India Today reported.

The rocket-propelled grenade (RPG) used in the attack was fired from about 80 metre away, according to the report.

A minor explosion hit the third floor of Punjab Police's intelligence, shattering windows and damaging property.

Two suspects arrived in a car and launched the RPG on the intelligence office building.

The report said it was not a targeted attack but a random shot.

Mohali Superintendent of Police Harvinder Sandhu said that a rocket-propelled grenade (RPG) was lobbed at the building.

A team from The National Investigation Agency will probe the matter, the report said.

Currently, Intelligence officials and investigators are going through the CCTV footage.

The sources also told India Today the rocket launcher may have been delivered via a drone.

The incidences of using drones to transport weapons and explosives in Punjab from Pakistan have reportedly been on the rise.

The Mohali Police stated that a minor explosion was reported at the Punjab Police Intelligence Headquarters in Sector 77, SAS Nagar at around 7.45 pm.
