Patna: Political activity has intensified in Bihar as the BJP and JD(U) hold crucial meetings on Wednesday, ahead of a joint NDA legislative party session where Nitish Kumar is expected to be formally elected as the alliance’s leader.
The JD(U) legislators will meet at 11 am at the residence of Minister Shravan Kumar, while the BJP will convene separately at its state headquarters in Patna. Both meetings will be followed by a joint NDA gathering in the Central Hall of the Assembly, during which Kumar will be chosen as legislative party leader.
Once elected, Kumar will visit Raj Bhavan to stake his claim to form the government. He is scheduled to take oath on 20 November as Chief Minister for the tenth time, a milestone in Bihar’s political history.
Preparations for the ceremony are being carried out on a grand scale. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP National President Jagat Prakash Nadda, several Union Ministers, Chief Ministers from other states, and senior NDA leaders are expected to attend.
On Tuesday, Kumar inspected arrangements at Gandhi Maidan, accompanied by NDA leaders Samrat Chaudhary and Nitin Naveen, as well as senior officials including Chief Secretary Pratyay Amrit, DGP Vinay Kumar, Patna District Magistrate Tyagarajan S.M., and SSP Kartikeya K Sharma.
Organisers expect around three lakh people to witness the swearing-in ceremony.
