NDA confident of return in Bihar as Mahagathbandhan faces internal rift: Shahnawaz Hussain

New Delhi: With the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections drawing near, leaders of the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) have stepped up their campaign, projecting a narrative of governance, development and unity, while portraying the opposition Mahagathbandhan as fractured and lagging behind.

Senior BJP leader Shahnawaz Hussain expressed confidence in the NDA’s prospects, claiming that the people of Bihar are set to re-elect the alliance. “The people of Bihar have made up their minds that this time again, they will form an NDA government. With the blessings of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, under the leadership of CM Nitish Kumar, and with the strategy of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, the NDA is going to form the government in Bihar,” he said. He further alleged that the Mahagathbandhan has lost momentum and is grappling with serious internal divisions.

Echoing the alliance’s message, JD(U) national spokesperson Rajiv Ranjan emphasised the rule-of-law and economic reforms under the current government. He stated that legal action is being taken against individuals facing allegations, regardless of political affiliation, marking a departure from past practices where police operated under political influence. Ranjan also highlighted the state’s industrial growth, citing Rs 42,000 crore in investments under the new policy, along with employment generation and support schemes for women entrepreneurs, including financial assistance of up to Rs 2 lakh. He dismissed opposition allegations of corruption as baseless, asserting that the measures are designed to empower women.

Together, the statements reflect the NDA’s twin-pronged campaign strategy, showcasing administrative performance and economic progress, while criticising the opposition’s cohesion and credibility.

Bihar will vote in two phases, on 6 and 11 November, with counting scheduled for 14 November. As campaigning intensifies, both alliances are sharpening their messaging ahead of the crucial electoral contest.
