New Delhi: K Kavitha, who was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate on March 15, termed in a letter to a Delhi Court that the investigation by central agencies is a‘media trial’.
However, Delhi's Rouse Avenue court extended the judicial custody of the daughter of former Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao till April 23 on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, The Central Bureau of Investigation( CBI) is allowed to question Kavitha in the jail.
Alongside denying her request to address the court personally, the court earlier directed her to give the matter in writing.
Subsequently, in a letter to the court she termed the investigation by central agencies a "media trial, adding that it affected her reputation and invaded her privacy.
"I'm a victim. My personal and political reputation has been targeted. My mobile phone is displayed on all television channels, directly invading my privacy," her lawyer read out the letter in the court.
The letter further said that she cooperated with the agencies and handed all bank details alongside promising she will give all the mobiles that the ED claimed she destroyed.
She called out the BJP in the letter saying ‘95 per cent cases of ED/CBI are against the opposition leaders and when the accused Joins BJP the investigation abruptly stops.’
Leaving the court, the BRS leader told reporters that the case is ‘completely based on the statement. It is a political case. This is a case of targeting the opposition parties," adding that it ‘won’t stand the test of time’.
