Khandwa/ MP: An infuriated man allegedly slit a woman's throat at a village in Madhya Pradesh's Khandwa district after she turned down his proposal. The 18-year-old victim was severely injured and got hospitalized, PTI reported.
Police informed that the incident occurred at Bangarda village under Mundi police station limits on Monday afternoon.
According to Brijbhushan Hirve, in charge of the Mundi police station, the accused is identified as Bablu (23), and the victim belongs to the Dalit community. Bablu came to the woman's house when she was alone as her family was away attending a function in the nearby village. He slit the victim's throat when she turned down his proposal, the officer informed.
Bablu has been named in a case under section 307 (attempt to murder) and other relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), but he is absconding.
The victim's sister testified that the accused told the woman that he was in love with her and wanted to marry her. When she refused, the accused slit her throat and fled, PTI reported citing police.
