Mobile internet services, suspended nearly two weeks ago during the farmers' 'Delhi Chalo' agitation, have been reinstated in seven districts of Haryana.
The services were halted in Ambala, Kurukshetra, Kaithal, Jind, Hisar, Fatehabad, and Sirsa on February 11, with subsequent extensions on February 13, 15, 17, 19, 20, 21, 23, and 24.
No fresh orders have been issued to further extend the suspension in these districts. The initial order from the Home Department cited the suspension as a measure "to prevent any disturbance of peace and public order."
Residents welcomed the decision, emphasising the relief brought by the restoration of mobile internet services.
The 'Delhi Chalo' agitation, led by the Samyukta Kisan Morcha and the Kisan Mazdoor Morcha, aims to pressure the Centre to address farmers' demands, including a legal guarantee of minimum support price (MSP) for crops and a farm loan waiver.
Protesting farmers from Punjab, camping at Shambhu and Khanauri points on the Haryana border since February 13, will continue their stay until February 29, when the next course of action will be decided.
This decision follows a temporary hold on the 'Delhi Chalo' march for two days after clashes at Khanauri resulted in a protester's death and injuries to about 12 police personnel.
