Chandigarh: Following the fourth round of talks between the protesting farmers and the Centre on Sunday, the Punjab Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee informed that farms would continue with the 'Delhi Chalo' march on February 21 until their demands are met. The organisation's general secretary, Sarvan Singh Pandher, said that there will be discussions on the Centre's proposal on MSP, Asian News International reported.
However, he said that the government and farmer unions will find a solution to the issues. The decision on the government's proposal would taken on Monday evening or the day after. The resuming of March 21st will be based on the government's discussions and subsequent decisions.
Farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal said that the government-given proposal would be supervised and managed by two government agencies. The proposal guarantees MSP for pulses, maise and cotton. Farmers will discuss and reach a conclusion on the proposal, but the march to Delhi will continue unless their demands are met. He added that there should be talks on many other demands, too.
Further, he said that on Sunday, he had a detailed discussion on farmers' demands during the talks with the government.
Meanwhile, Union Minister Piyush Goyal said earlier that farmers and ministers had a positive and extensive discussion. According to him, government-promoted cooperative societies like NCCF (National Cooperative Consumers' Federation of India) and NAFED (National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India) will form a contract for the next five years and buy products from the farmers on MSP. This will be without limits, ANI reported.
The protesting farmers and ministers met earlier on the 8th, 12th and 15th of this month, but talks didn't reach an agreement.
