Missing Tamil Nadu Congress leader found burned, dead

Chennai: In Tamil Nadu, the burnt body of a missing Congress leader was found in a farmland owned by him. Police have formed three special teams to investigate the death of the leader who was reported missing for two days, NDTV reported.

The body of the leader, KPK Jeyakumar, was found in Tirunelveli on Saturday. He was the president of Congress’ Tirunelveli East district unit.

According to police, Jeyakumar went missing on Thursday, and his son filed a complaint the following day. They recovered a dying declaration, and they are investigating whether the declaration was written by Jeyakumar himself. It is yet to be confirmed whether the Congress leader was murdered or died by suicide.

The dying declaration seems to have mentioned a list of high-profile names and accuses them of intimidating and cheating him of money.

According to the Superintendent, police have formed three special teams to probe the case from three different angles.

Meanwhile, the AIADMK attacked the ruling DMK over the death of the leader and surrounding mystery. AIADMK head and former chief minister of Tamil Nadu, Edappadi K Palaniswami, demanded immediate arrest of those responsible. He suggested that the incident indicates severe deterioration of law and order in the state.
