After years of waiting, govt bus service reaches TN Minister Arasu's native village

Chennai: In a historic development, Ayan Reddiapatti village in Tamil Nadu received its first government bus service since Independence on Sunday, September 13.

Tamil Nadu Social Justice Minister and VCK Deputy General Secretary Vanni Arasu announced the development on X, noting that the bus service had reached his native village for the first time since the country gained Independence.

Residents and elders belonging to different communities gathered to welcome the inaugural bus, showering flowers and waving flags. Arasu said the celebrations reflected the social harmony in the village, with the occasion giving residents a feeling akin to experiencing another form of freedom, Siasat Daily reported.

Recalling the personal importance of the development, Arasu said his late parents had often encouraged him to work for the welfare and development of their native village. He expressed satisfaction at being able to fulfil their long-standing wish even though they were no longer alive, adding that witnessing the happiness of the villagers had brought him immense solace.

Arasu also thanked Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay and Transport Minister A Vijay Thamizhan Parthiban on behalf of the residents for facilitating the launch of the government bus service.
