In the meantime, the National Commission for Women (NCW) sought the director-general of police (DGP) in the state to provide security for the family of the 15-year-old survivor, who had lodged a case at Mandawar police station of Dausa.

In a letter to the DGP, ML Lathar, NCW, said, "The commission has sought safety for the victim and arrest of all the accused at the earliest. The victim must also be provided with counselling. The commission has also directed the DGP to send detailed information about the measures taken by the Rajasthan police to curb such crimes. The action taken must be intimated to the commission within three days."

On Sunday, SP Anil Kumar said that the police had started an investigation into the case and had done a medical examination of the survivor.

The survivor's uncle lodged the complaint on Friday, naming the five, including the MLA's son, accusing them of gang rape, extortion and blackmailing. Those named in the case were Vivek Sharma, Netram and Deepak Meena, son of Rajgarjh Congress MLA Johari Lal Meena. However, the MLA had responded by denying the charges and termed the case as a political conspiracy against him.
