Man who got stuck in a lift slaps security guard despite helping

New Delhi: A man who was stuck in the lift for five minutes beat up a security guard in a residential society in Gurugram.

Police booked the accused Varun Nath, a resident of The Close North Society, under sections 323 (causing hurt) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Varun Nath was coming down from 14th floor in the lift when he got stuck after the lift stopped midway.

He alerted the security guard Ashok over the intercom in the lift.

Ashok brought along a liftman to the spot and it took them five minutes to get Varun out of the lift.

Coming out of the lift, Varun started slapping the security guard for no reason other than having been stuck there for five minutes.

A video of the incident running on social media showed Varun repeatedly slapping Ashok as people looked on.

"I helped him get out of the lift within 3-4 minutes. As soon as he got out, he started beating me up," guard Ashok Kumar was quoted as saying.

All the security guards of the society stopped working, protesting against some residents treating them as "slaves".
