Gurugram: A Class 11 student was critically injured after being shot by a classmate using his father’s licensed pistol in a flat in Sector 48, police said on Sunday.
According to authorities, the bullet struck the student’s neck, and he is currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital. An FIR has been registered at the Sadar police station, and two minor students have been taken into custody in connection with the case.
Police recovered one pistol, two magazines, 70 cartridges, and a bullet shell from the scene. The incident occurred at around 9.30 pm on Saturday. Three classmates were present in the accused’s rented flat when a dispute escalated, prompting one of them to allegedly shoot the victim.
The victim’s mother stated in her complaint that her 17-year-old son was invited by his school friend to meet on Saturday. Initially, he refused, but the friend insisted, saying he would come to pick him up. She eventually allowed her son to go, and he met the friend near the Kherki Daula toll.
“About two months ago, my son had an altercation with his friend. Because of this, my son's friend took him to his house and, along with another friend, shot him with the intention of killing him,” the mother said.
During police interrogation, the two minor accused revealed that all three students are in Class 11 at the same school. Investigations indicated that the accused shooter had been holding a grudge over the previous altercation. On the night of November 8, he called the victim, and after having food and drinks on the way, the pair picked up another friend before heading to the flat.
Police also stated that the accused’s father, a resident of Patli village, works as a property dealer, and the licensed pistol used in the incident was kept at home. A further probe into the case is underway.
