The state police claimed to have arrested three persons involved in the case of a tribal girl who had been abducted and gangraped in Madhya Pradesh three days earlier.
The incident occurred on Sunday night at a village located about 80 kilometers from district headquarters in Rewa district. Shiv Kumar Verma, Additional Superintendent of Police, said the girl was abducted from a village and raped by three men, of whom two are minors.
In a statement, Verma said local police (Hanumana police station) were informed about the incident on Monday, and searched the area and arrested all of the accused.
Her complaint indicates that on Sunday night, she was returning home with one of her friends from the market when three unknown persons abducted and raped her in a forest.
A person is suspected of beating up and raping a member of a tribal community, Verma explained further. Three people, including two minors, have been arrested in the case.
Besides the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and abduction, they have also been booked under the Provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO), Verma said.
