Two sisters, Shobha (25) and Vimla (23)—private school teachers and daughters of Deep Singh—allegedly died by suicide in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, early Saturday, hours before their scheduled wedding.
Family rushed the sisters to a private hospital after their health worsened; doctors declared them dead on arrival. Preliminary findings point to poison ingestion, but post-mortem reports are awaited. "It would be premature to ascertain the reason for their deaths at this stage," a police official said. Officers seized the bodies amid cremation prep, conducted autopsy, then released them.
Maternal uncle Jaswant Singh blamed Deep Singh's brothers, claiming they forced unwanted marriage alliances after prior ones collapsed. He specifically accused Deep Singh's younger brother of harassment driving the extreme step. Police have registered an unnatural death case and are investigating these claims.
