IndiGo flights may continue to face delays, says Delhi Airport

New Delhi: Delhi Airport on Monday issued a passenger advisory, informing that IndiGo flights may continue to experience delays and urging travellers to check the latest flight status with the airline before leaving for the airport. The airport said its teams are coordinating with all stakeholders to minimise disruption and ensure a smooth travel experience, with on-ground staff and information desks available to assist passengers, including with medical support.

The advisory also highlighted that passengers can use multiple public transport options such as the metro, buses and cabs for convenient travel to and from the airport, and directed them to the airport’s official website for real-time updates and important information. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Civil Aviation said IndiGo has processed refunds amounting to Rs 610 crore following government directions to complete all refunds for cancelled or heavily delayed flights by 8 p.m. on Sunday, and clarified that no additional fees can be charged for rescheduling travel affected by such disruptions.

According to the ministry, IndiGo’s operations have shown steady improvement, with flight schedules gradually returning to normal. In response to recent cancellations and a temporary spike in airfares, the government has imposed caps on fares to ensure affordability, leading to a moderation of prices on affected routes and strict compliance instructions issued to all airlines.

The ministry further said IndiGo has been directed to trace and deliver all baggage separated from passengers due to disruptions within 48 hours, with continuous communication required throughout the process. With this push, the airline has so far delivered around 3,000 pieces of baggage to passengers across the country.
