Hotstar releases Masoom trailer, Promises a psychological thriller

The Indian adaptation of the Irish TV show 'Blood' will start streaming on Disney+ Hotstar. The OTT platform released the trailer of 'Masoom' with Boman Irani and Samara Tijori in lead roles.

The show revolves around a family that just lost a loved one. The deceptive family ties, strained relationships, and suspicious actions turn the story into a thriller. The show is set in Falauli village of Punjab which plays well into the tone of the story.

The original Irish TV show, Blood was critically acclaimed for the psychological aspect. It was also set in a fictional small town in the Dublin commuter belt creating an eerie effect for the story.

Showrunner Gurmmeet Singh, known for Mirzapur, said the crew set out to create a thriller that "tugs on family ties and hidden truths". It is a microscopic look at the lives of a family who have been tainted by secrets forever, he added.

Samara Tijori plays a daughter returning home to attend her mother's funeral. Even though her mother was bedridden due to an illness for a long time, she suspects her father was involved in the death.

Played by Boman Irani, the patriarch of the family appears to be a complex character. Irani said the show opens a new world for him and he has been waiting for his digital debut for a long time. He added that working with a new actress like Samara was fascinating. "I had the pleasure of seeing a young actor chisel her art and, in a way, it helped me grow too".

Manjari Fadnis, Veer Rajwant Singh, Upasana Singh, and Manurishi Chaddha are also part of the cast. The show will start streaming on June 17.
