Mumbai: Bollywood actress Tisca Chopra will be soon seen in the Disney+ Hotstar show Dahan - Raakan Ka Rahasya. After the trailer launch, she said the show captures raw fear as each character faces their own demons.
Tisca plays Avani Raut, an IAS officer trying to convince a small town to allowing mining in the region. However, the trailer revealed that the villagers believe an evil entity is locked up in the mountains.
The short video hinted at mysterious deaths and disappearances which indicates that villagers may not be simply holding on to myths and superstitions.
She added that her character is fighting personal and professional battles when caught in the crossfire of superstition and the supernatural and resin and practicality on the other. "The show puts the character Avani Raut on a quest by drawing parallels between her external and internal fears, which all of us confront. It's been an absolute delight to bring Dahan and Avani to the audiences."
Dahan was shot in the rugged landscapes of Rajasthan and promises eerie vibes. Tisca Chopra appears to be comfortable in her role as an IAS officer.
The Vikranth Pawar directorial also stars Rajesh Tailang, Mukesh Tiwari, Saurabh Shukla, Ankur Nayyar, Rohan Joshi, and Lehar Khan. Saurabh Shukla appears in an important role as the Pramukh of the village. He said the show meticulously brings together a tale of myths, legends, and superstitions.
"Playing Pramukh puts me in the eye of the strong beliefs surrounding the village and its residents. One element that makes this character stand out is that he fears what he worships, but is too scared to break the chain," he added.
The nine-episode thriller will start streaming on September 16, 2022.
