Gujarat woman gets her husband arrested frequently and bails him out afterwards

Gandhinagar: A woman in Gujarat’s Mehasana had her husband arrested frequently and arranged for his release afterwards, reports say.

Sonu, living in Kadi town here, got her husband Premchand Mali arrested seven times in less than 10 years complaining of domestic violence.

Each time he was arrested she would step in to arrange for his release, The Times of India reported.

Married in 2001, Sonu filed her first complaint of domestic violence against her husband in 2015 following troubles began in their life in 2014.

The court ordered him to pay a monthly alimony of Rs 2,000.

A daily wager, Premachand could not keep himself to paying alimony leading to his arrest.

As he spent five months in jail, Sonu secured his release and arranged for his bail.

They lived separately, but somehow found themselves together in ‘web of fight, separation and reconciliation’.

Fight kept breaking out even as they came back to live together, according to the report.

Premchand was arrested every year from 2016 to 2018 as Sonu complained and each time she secured his release.

When he was jailed in 2019 and 2020 over not paying alimony, she rescued him each time.

Most recently Premachand was arrested earlier this year, when he failed to make the payment.

Sonu got him released on July 4 and took him to their home in Kadi, report said.

Later, Premchand confronted his wife complaining that his wallet and phone were missing. She denied wrongdoing but they argued and fought assaulting each other.

Premchand went to live with his mother in Patan and lodged a complaint, accusing Sonu and their son of harming him.
