Government launches PM-YUVA 3.0 to mentor young authors

In a significant initiative to nurture young literary talent, the Ministry of Education’s Department of Higher Education has launched the third edition of the Prime Minister's Scheme for Mentoring Young Authors (PM-YUVA 3.0).

This mentorship program aims to inspire budding writers under the age of 30 by providing them with the guidance of renowned authors and mentors.

The goal is to promote a culture of reading, writing, and literature in India.

Following the success of the first two editions, PM-YUVA 3.0 continues to provide a platform for young authors to develop their writing skills and contribute to India’s literary landscape. Aspiring writers can submit their proposals for consideration until April 10, 2025, through the MyGov portal (https://www.mygov.in/).

An All India Contest will be held to select 50 young authors, whose names will be announced between May and June 2025. The chosen candidates will undergo an intensive training program led by established writers from June 30, 2025, to December 30, 2025.

The program invites young authors to explore and write about themes that reflect India’s heritage, knowledge systems, and contributions to the world. The selected themes for this edition include:

1. Contribution of Indian Diaspora in Nation Building – Highlighting the influence of the Indian diaspora in shaping India’s political, economic, and socio-cultural landscape.

2. Indian Knowledge System – Showcasing India’s traditional wisdom and its role in national development.

3. Makers of Modern India (1950-2025) – Presenting creative and innovative narratives on individuals who have shaped modern India.

The National Book Trust, India (NBT) is the implementing agency responsible for the execution of the scheme. The books authored under PM-YUVA 3.0 will be published by NBT and translated into various Indian languages, promoting linguistic and cultural exchange in line with the vision of ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat.’

Beyond mentorship, the selected authors will have the opportunity to engage with prominent writers, participate in literary festivals, and contribute to India’s evolving literary and intellectual discourse.
