Telangana Muslim man forced to wash Raja Singh’s poster after sharing his photo with pig

Hyderabad: A Muslim youth was allegedly publicly humiliated on Monday (March 30) in Telangana’s Mahabubnagar district after reportedly posting content on social media perceived as insulting T Raja Singh, the Goshamahal MLA.

The youth, identified as Sheikh Mohammed Yaser from Kidwaipet, was allegedly forced by a group of around 20 individuals, said to be linked to right-wing groups, to clean a poster of the former Bharatiya Janata Party leader.

The incident reportedly followed an Instagram post in which Yaser had used a pig emoji in reference to the MLA, Siasat Daily reported.

According to reports, the group allegedly dragged him out of his house while verbally abusing him and took him to an area near a temple where the poster was displayed. He was then made to wash it with milk and issue an apology.

Family members, including his father Mohammed Akram, reportedly appealed to the group to let the matter go, stating that Yaser was a student and had his future ahead of him, but their requests were not heeded.

Videos circulating online appeared to show Yaser repeating an apology dictated by the group, saying that he would not repeat the act in the future.

Amjed Ullah Khan, spokesperson of the Majlis Bachao Tahreek, shared the video on social media and alleged that the incident took place in the presence of police personnel.

He further claimed that the officers threatened Yaser and his father, warning them against approaching authorities or political representatives for help.
