Lucknow: A 17-year-old girl in Uttar Pradesh's Mainpuri died after a doctor allegedly gave her a wrong injection, NDTV reported.
The doctor and the staff of the hospital, where the girl was treated, fled the scene dumping her body on a motorcycle parked outside, the victim’s family alleged.
The hospital authorities did not inform the family of her death, in an apparent case of negligence and insensitivity.
Footage showed the girl’s lifeless body lying on a motorcycle, sparking outrage.
It is believed that the hospital authorities feared public anger over the girl’s death.
The girl identified as Bharti had a fever on Tuesday and was taken to the Radha Swami Hospital in Ghiror area.
Bharti’s aunt Manisha said that the girl was ‘absolutely fine’ on Wednesday.
Her condition reportedly worsened after the doctor gave her an injection.
The aunt said the doctor asked her to take Bharti to another hospital as her condition was worsening.
Manisha said Bharti however was already dead when the doctor asked her to take the patient to another hospital.
The family has not complained to the police yet; the Chief Medical Officer sealed the hospital.
The nodal officer who visited the hospital could not find the doctor or administrative staff.
‘There was a patient present in the hospital, who had undergone surgery. He was admitted to the nearest community health centre and the hospital was sealed,’ Chief Medical Officer RC Gupta was quoted as saying.
The officer also said that though the hospital was registered the operator’s license was cancelled.
