New Delhi: Delhi Police on Thursday filed a case against Rahul Gandhi after the BJP MPs lodged a complaint against the Congress leader at the Parliament Street Police Station, The Business Standard reported.
The Bharatiya Janata Party accused Rahul Gandhi of having involved in ‘physical assault and incitement’ during the commotion in Parliament earlier in the day.
BJP MPs Anurag Singh Thakur, Bansuri Swaraj, and Hemang Joshi accused the Leader of Opposition of injuring them during the alleged altercation.
Meanwhile, police have not taken action over a complaint by the Opposition accusing BJP MPs of manhandling Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge.
MPs of Congress and the BJP on Thursday accused each other of manhandling when they engaged in an altercation.
The congress staged protest against Home Minister Amit Shah alleging that he had insulted BR Ambedkar.
However, the BJP countered the charge, saying that it was the Congress that had insulted Ambedkar.
The BJP alleged Rahul Gandhi pushed MPs Pratap Chandra Sarangi and Mukesh Rajput causing them to fall and sustain injuries.
The BJP’s Vadodara MP Hemang Joshi, accompanied by Anurag Thakur and Bansuri Swaraj, lodged a complaint with the police.
It is reported that Rahul Gandhi faces a case under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita linked to voluntarily causing serious injury, using criminal force and criminal intimidation.
Meanwhile, Phangnon Konyak, a BJP MP from Nagaland, alleged that Rahul Gandhi misbehaved with her, adding that she ‘really felt uncomfortable’ when he came in ‘very close proximity’ to her.
Denying the allegation, the Congress said that Konyak had tried to stop Rahul Gandhi from entering Parliament.
