Friendly fire: CRPF soldier shoots, kills four comrades in Chattisgarh

Four CRPF soldiers have been killed and three injured in an incident where a fellow CRPF officer opened fired at a camp for paramilitary forces in the Sukma district of Chattisgarh. The camp is located in the Lingapalli village, 400 km from the capital Raipur, and shots were fired at around 3:30 AM in the morning.

The assailant has been identified as Constable Rayeesh Ranjan and he is said to have used his service weapon, an Ak-47, in the attack. The deceased are constables Rajmani Kumar Yadav, Rajib Mondal, Dhanji and Dharmendra Kumar. Three others are currently in treatment at a local hospital while the four were declared dead on arrival.

No motive has been ascertained as of yet and an investigation is ongoing. constable Ranjan has been arrested and taken away for interrogation.This is the second such incident to take place this year as in January, another CRPF jawan in Bastar had shot dead one and injured another before attempting to take his own life on the spot.
