New Delhi: An event organised by VHP is being accused of providing a stage for hate speech. According to the FIT, some of the speakers allegedly made hate speeches.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Shahadra) R. Sathiyasundaram said anFIR has been registered against the organisers under IPC Sec 188 (disobedience to order duly enforced by public servant) for not taking permission from the police. The event at Dilshad Garden was organised by several Hindu rightwing outfits.
Delhi Police said it is collecting the details of the event and confirmed that no permission was taken for organising it.
Vishwa Hindu Parishad, one of the organisers, said the claim in the FIR is "laughable" and police personnel were deployed at the event. "Let alone permission, we fixed the venue at Ramleela Ground in Dilshad Garden after suggestion and recommendation from senior police officers. We earlier had planned to hold the gathering near Manish's house but on the request of the police changed it to Ramlila Maidan," said the spokesperson.
Delhi BJP MP Parvesh Verma allegedly called for a total boycott of a community at the event held to protest the killing of a Hindu youth in northeast Delhi. He said: "Wherever you find them, there is only one way to straighten them out - total boycott. Do you agree with me? We will not buy anything from their shops or pay them any wages. This is the only treatment for them."
19-year-old Manish was stabbed to death earlier this month. Police have arrested three accused - Aalam, Bilal, and Faizan. The murder was based on an old rivalry.
