Mumbai: Footage on Tuesday showed a luxury car belonging to the son of Maharashtra BJP chief Chandrashekhar Bawankule hitting several vehicles in Nagpur.
Sanket Bawankule’s Audi was seen rushing past a crossing at around 1 am, before hitting a car and then a moped injuring two people traveling on it, according to NDTV.
One of the vehicles hit by the Audi chased it down and got it stopped near Mankapur Bridge, news agency PTI reported.
It is reported that five people, returning from a beer bar, were in the car at the time of the incident.
While the driver and another passenger were arrested, the BJP leader’s son, Sanket and two others managed to flee the scene.
The blood samples of the arrested persons were reportedly sent for examination.
Inspector Anamika Mirjhapure at the Sitabuldi Police Station said that incident occurred in front of Centre Point Hotel, adding that the car involved in the incident fled the scene.
The officer further said that a case was registered and two accused identified as Arjun Hawre and Ronit Chittamwar have been arrested in the connection with it.
Responding to the incident, the BJP chief Chandrashekhar Bawankule said that the Audi was registered in his son’s name, and sought for taking appropriate action if they are found guilty, saying ‘The law must be equal for all’.
