Car crash: stand-up comedian Utsav Dixit arrested in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: Following a Porsche crash at KBR Park in Hyderabad city, police arrested stand-up comedian and businessman Utsav Dixit on Sunday. The 33-year-old, a resident of Banjara Hills, crashed his luxury car into the fence of KBR Park and fled the spot, IANS reported.

The crash caused severe damage to the boundary wall, grill, and pavement at KBR Park. IANS learned from police that the cause of the accident was reckless driving and losing control of the vehicle.

The crash occurred around 5:45 am in the morning, and a citizen alerted the police.

Police have registered a suo-motu case on the complaint by patrolling police personnel. The number plate of the car was found inside the car with the registration number TS10FH0900.

In a statement, the police said, "The car's front portion and wheels were damaged. The driver of the car had escaped.”

They also said that the accused was traced and arrested after verifying the available evidence. Alcohol and drug tests and other procedures are underway. They seized Utsav’s driving license and sent it to the concerned Road Transport Official (RTO) for disqualification as per Section 19 of the Motor Vehicle Act.

Utsav has been charged with various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including Section 110 (attempt to commit culpable homicide) and 281 (rash driving). He is also charged under section 184 (penalties for driving dangerously) of the Motor Vehicles Act and section 3 (mischief causing damage to public property) of the Prevention of Damage to Public Property (PDPP) Act.
