BSF fires at suspected drone 300m above Indo-Pak border

Jammu: India'sIndia's Border Security Force (BSF) has fired at a suspected Pakistani drone spotter at the International Border (IB) in the Jammu district in the wee hours of Thursday, PTI reported.

A BSF spokesperson said, "A blinking light suspected to be from a drone was observed in Arnia area (along with the International Border) about 04:15 hours today,"

The force informed that a massive search had been initiated to locate dropped weapons or explosives if any.

The troops fired at an object flying at a height of 300 metres, leading the object to withdraw.

In recent times, the security forces have kept alert to Pakistan terror outfits' attempts to smuggle weapons, ammunition and explosives etc., through drones over IB in the Jammu region to arm terrorists.

Forces have shot down many such vector drones and seized their payloads, including rifles, improvised explosive devices (IEDs), and sticky bombs besides narcotics. Police had recovered three magnetic IEDs dropped by a drone in the Akhnoor border area of Jammu after BSF shot it down on Monday. On May 29, Rajbagh area police brought down a drone that was carrying seven sticky bombs and under-barrel grenades (UBG) each.
