Patna: In the incident of chaos that happened at the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) exam centre on Friday, CCTV footage showed a large group of people tearing question papers in the storage area and snatching them from candidates who appeared for the test, NDTV reported.
It is learned that a delay occurred in distributing question papers and OMR sheets, and some candidates who were present to take the test lost their temper after hearing a rumour that the exam got cancelled, and they started a ruckus.
CCTV clips showed that some candidates rushed into a room where the exam officials were talking to some other candidates, who were upset over the 40 to 45 minutes delay in distributing questions. The crowd of candidates suddenly rushed into the room, pushed aside the officials, and raided the boxes that contained questions.
However, according to the complaint filed by exam officials, they had told the candidates that they would be given extra time, which was lost due to the delay. Exam officials alleged that the candidates demanded why the sealed boxes of question papers had not yet been opened, and some of them incited the rumour that the exam was cancelled.
Following this, a candidate looted a packet of question papers, broke the centre gate and ran out waving the packet in his hand. Some candidates went to many rooms, and attendance sheets and other forms were damaged, the official’s complaint said.
However, the magistrate and the police present at the exam venue controlled the situation, and the rest of the exam was completed.
