A Delhi court has extended Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's judicial custody until July 3 in connection with a corruption case related to the now-defunct Delhi liquor policy.
Kejriwal was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate on March 21 over allegations of corruption in the formulation and implementation of the liquor policy.
The Enforcement Directorate has accused Kejriwal of playing a significant role in drafting the policy and soliciting bribes in exchange for liquor licenses. According to the agency, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) received kickbacks amounting to ₹100 crore, which were purportedly used to finance its election campaigns in Goa and Punjab.
Both Kejriwal and the AAP have vehemently denied the allegations, labeling the arrest and ensuing case as a "political vendetta" timed just weeks before the elections.
The Supreme Court had granted Kejriwal interim bail on May 10 to allow him to campaign for the elections, during which he actively participated in numerous rallies across the country.
