New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the police action against CJP protesters during their march to Parliament, accusing the Centre of intimidating citizens instead of addressing their concerns.
In a post on X, Kejriwal alleged that the government was threatening the public and warned that people would respond through democratic means.
In a strongly worded post on X, Kejriwal wrote, "Mr. Modi, this country does not belong to your father. Stop issuing threats, or else the people of the country will teach you such a lesson that history will remember what happened to a dictator."
His remarks came a day after clashes broke out between security personnel and CJP protesters attempting to march towards Parliament. Protesters alleged that police used force to disperse students demonstrating against alleged examination paper leaks, irregularities in evaluation and recruitment processes, and demanding reforms in competitive examinations, including NEET.
Kejriwal later visited Delhi's Ram Manohar Lohia (RML) Hospital to meet those injured in Monday's clashes.
Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda also visited the hospital to meet the injured protesters. His visit followed the Centre's first formal meeting with representatives of the protest movement on Monday.
Nadda met CJP spokespersons Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka at his residence, where he heard their demands and urged them to end the agitation, signalling the government's willingness to resolve the issue through dialogue.
The protests have triggered a political confrontation, with the opposition accusing the Centre of suppressing dissent, while the government has maintained that the issues should be resolved through discussions.
