Chandigarh: Aam Aadmi Party national convener Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday said he expects the party to better its previous performance in the 2027 Punjab assembly elections, citing strong “pro-incumbency” for the state government.
Speaking in Ludhiana during a two-day visit to meet party leaders, and accompanied by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, Kejriwal said there was “a lot of positivity” for AAP despite the government completing four years in office.
“Kejriwal said: “I am completely sure that in the coming assembly elections, the AAP will break its previous record and we will perform well.”
He argued that the Mann administration’s focus on welfare and development had left the opposition with no substantive issues to raise, prompting them to resort to personal attacks on the chief minister.
“Mann government has taken several historic decisions for the welfare of the people. Due to these unprecedented initiatives, people’s trust in AAP has grown stronger. The party is fully prepared to return to power with an even bigger majority,” Kejriwal said.
Listing achievements, he noted free electricity, canal water supply to fields, daytime power for farmers, a Rs 10 lakh cashless treatment scheme, large-scale road construction, upgraded playgrounds and a proposed monthly Rs 1,000 transfer to women’s accounts. “So much work was never done by any government. People are happy,” he added.
Kejriwal accused rival parties of having “nothing left except hurling abuses at Mann” and said Punjabis would “give a befitting reply” by rejecting them at the polls.
Earlier on X, he wrote: “In every nook and corner of Punjab, there is talk of the work done by our government. Even after four years, there is no anti-incumbency towards the government, but rather pro-incumbency. I am confident that the Aam Aadmi Party will perform very well in the upcoming assembly elections.”
