Tumakuru/Karnataka: An Anganwadi worker allegedly burnt the private parts of a 3-year-old boy for wetting his pants inside the classroom, and police booked the person, PTI reported citing police's account on Friday.
The incident came to the police's notice after a woman and child development officer lodged a complaint against the accused on Thursday. However, the incident had happened on August 19.
The officer was written a letter to the residents of Godekere village in Chikka Nayanakahalli Taluk of Tumakuru district in Karnataka, alleging that Anganwadi workers were torturing the children there. The government officer G Honnappa visited and made an enquiry.
Honnappa, the questioned, accused Anganwadi worker Rashmi KP and she claimed that she was trying to scare the child using a match stick, but it caught fire accidentally and caused burns on the child's body.
It is learned that the child complained about the incident to his grandmother, who facilitated medical treatment for him.
