New Delhi: The spiritual leader of Tibetan Buddhism, Dalai Lama, kissing a child on his lips and asking him to suck his tongue has gathered huge flak after a video featuring the same went viral on social media, NDTV reported.
Dalai Lama could be seen kissing the child on his lips when the latter leaned to respect the leader. Lama could be heard saying, "Can you suck my tongue" to the minor boy.
The video triggered an angry storm on Twitter.
A user commented why the leader would kiss the boy on the lips and ask him to suck his tongue.
"So the Dalai Lama is kissing an Indian boy at a Buddhist event and even tries to touch his tongue. He actually says "suck my tongue". Now why would he do that?" the user commented.
Another said that the act was unbecoming and none should justify the leader's "ill-conduct". "This is unbecoming, and no one should justify this ill-conduct of @DalaiLama," wrote the Twitter user.
Another commented that it was disgusting and the leader must get arrested for paedophilia.
"What am I seeing? Is this Dalai Lama? Needs to be arrested for paedophilia. Disgusting," the user stated.
In 2019, Dalai Lama incited controversy by saying that if his successor were to be a woman, she should be attractive. The statement gathered wide criticism globally, and Dalai Lama apologised later for it. He gave the controversial comment in an interview with the BBC.
