Several schools in Bengaluru get bomb threats, premises combed

Bengaluru: Bomb disposal squads arrived in schools in the city after complaints of bomb threats on Friday morning, NDTV reported.

Dozens of schools got threats through email, claiming explosives had been planted on school premises, police said. Reports about the number of schools who received the threat have been varying from 15 to 44.

Experts combed the schools for any suspicious object immediately after they were notified.

Bomb disposal squads searched schools including those in Whitefield, Koremangala, Basveshnagar, Yalahanka, and Sadashivanagar.

One of the schools that received threat issued a note to parents saying ‘ we are encountering an unexpected situation’.

‘We are encountering an unexpected situation at school today. The school has received a security threat from unknown sources. As we hold the safety of our children at utmost priority, we have decided to disperse the students immediately,’ the advisory read.

A similar threat to schools in the city last year turned out to be a hoax, police said.
