Anakapalle (Andhra Pradesh): The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) has seized 1169.3 kilograms of cannabis (ganja) worth about ₹ 2.33 crores from Andhra Pradesh's Anakapalle district.
Based on specific intelligence inputs that a substantial quantity of cannabis (ganja) was being transported by one person on a truck bearing UP registration en route on NH-16 from Anakapalli towards Hyderabad via Vijayawada, DRI sleuths from Visakhapatnam Regional Unit traced the truck that was left abandoned in a trench abutting NH-16 near Gobburu in Anakapalli district.
"DRI discovered the mentioned truck in accident-met and the deserted situation in a trench abutting NH-16 close to Gobburu, Anakapalle district," the discharge acknowledged.
On preliminary examination, as per the release, the truck was found laden with the contraband concealed under the bales of old Empty Gunny bags.
"The officers crane-lifted and then shifted the truck along with its contents. After the due procedure, 1169.30 Kgs of Cannabis also known as ganja was recovered and seized along with the truck and cover goods," the release further added.
