American singer-songwriter Selena Gomez said fellow artist Taylor Swift is her only friend in Hollywood. She added that she never fit in with a cool group of girls that were celebrities.
She was speaking to Rolling Stone to promote her documentary 'Selena Gomez: My Mind & Me'. She further said that back in the day, she felt like she did not belong in the industry. "I felt the presence of everyone around me living full lives. I had this position, and I was really happy, but … was I? Do these materialistic things make me happy? I just didn't like who I was, because I didn't know who I was."
Taylor and Selena's friendship is known for being one of the most iconic in Hollywood. The duo met in 2008 when they dated Nick and Joe Jonas at the same time. They were first spotted by the media on a double date. Both have often spoken fondly of each other in public. When Selena turned 30 in July, she celebrated separately with Taylor on a low-key dinner date.
Selena Gomez: My Mind & Me is a celebrity documentary in which the singer is highlighting her struggles with mental health. She has a lupus diagnosis and bipolar disorder. The singer is also seen speaking of her relationship with ex-boyfriend Justin Bieber which she described as her "worst heartbreak" and the "best thing."
Selena said the public nature of the relationship made it hard for her to move past it. " I feel like I had to go through the worst possible heartbreak ever, and then, just forgetting everything at the drop of a hand, it was really confusing. But I just think that needed to happen. And ultimately, it was the best thing that ever happened to me."
After the documentary was released on November 4, Taylor wrote on Instagram stories that she is proud of Selena.
