Pashmina Roshan opens up about depression ahead of Bollywood debut

Pashmina Roshan, soon to make her Bollywood debut with "Ishq Vishk Rebound," has candidly shared her struggles with mental health.

The cousin of famed actor Hrithik Roshan, Pashmina discussed her journey during an interview with news agency ANI.

Reflecting on her past, Pashmina revealed, "During my initial years, I was very confused about my potential as an actor. Although I participated in theatre during school, I wasn't confident. I had even applied to various universities in the UK for marketing, secured my visa, and arranged accommodation. However, during the summer holiday, I found myself in a deep depression. While my friends enjoyed parties and other activities, I would just sleep in the afternoons."

Pashmina continued, "I wasn't fulfilled by marketing; I didn't feel I was cut out for it. To explore my artistic side, I did a photo shoot and showed the results to my father and uncle. They saw potential but emphasized the need for honing my skills. From then on, I immersed myself in acting and dance classes, learning Bharatanatyam and other forms. I started auditioning continuously."

She added, "After facing numerous rejections and constantly reassessing myself with feedback from my family, I finally got this opportunity. I am incredibly grateful for this film."

In "Ishq Vishk Rebound," Pashmina will be seen alongside Rohit Saraf, Jibraan Khan, and Naila Grewal. Directed by Nipun Dharmadhikari, the film explores themes of love, friendship, heartbreak, and rebounds.

The trailer, released on Tuesday, introduces the story of three friends played by Rohit Saraf, Pashmina Roshan, and Jibraan Khan. Pashmina and Jibraan's characters develop feelings for each other, while Rohit's character grows close to Naila Grewal's. However, complications arise, leading to breakups.

"Ishq Vishk Rebound," backed by Tips Films Limited, is set to release on June 21.
