Mumbai: On the occasion of International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, Actor Pankaj Tripathi pledged to support the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), in its campaigns and awareness drives against the use of drugs.
The actor said that the authorities from NCB Patna Zonal Unit have reached out to him for the cause.
"The authorities from NCB Patna reached out to me for this cause, and anything that is associated with Bihar and in public concerns, I personally have the interest to lend my support for such campaigns and awareness creation drives," Tripathi said.
At a time when cinema is blamed for glamorising drug use, Pankaj feels that it is his social responsibility to educate the people on its ill effects.
"Cinema is one of the favourite mediums of the youth, and as an actor, if we initiate any awareness campaign it may reach out to maximum people, creating more impact. It's a social responsibility for me as an actor and as a citizen to fulfil my duty as much as I can," Pankaj said.
International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking or World Drug Day is celebrated to educate about issues related to drugs and seek international cooperation to combat its effects on health, society, and governance.
This year, the theme is 'Share Facts On Drugs, Save Lives'.
