NCB's Saturday drug haul valued at Rs 25,000 Cr, weighs 2,525 kg

Kochi: The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) informed that the drugs it seized in an operation it carried on with the Indian Navy in Indian waters on Saturday were worth Rs 25,000 crores, Asian News International reported.

The NCB said on Monday that the enumeration of the high-purity methamphetamine it seized have completed. The large haul has been confirmed as 2,525 kg.

NCB further said that the enumeration process took 23 hours. The value of the seizure became higher because it is higher grade methamphetamine, packed in packets of one kilogram each and stacked in 134 sacks. A Pakistani national has been arrested out of suspicion, and he will be produced before a court on Monday evening.

According to Deputy Director General (Ops) Sanjay Kumar Singh, the seizure was the largest in terms of monetary value.

Talking to ANI, Singh said, "NCB & Navy conducted a successful operation in the Indian Ocean. It is the largest in terms of its monetary value. It originated from the Chabahar port in Iran. The source of the drugs is Pakistan."

Singh told ANI that the seizure originated from the Chabahar port in Iran, and it was meant for Sri Lanka, Maldives and India.

He said that the operation behind the seizure started in February last year. During the period, it caught around 4,000kg of various drugs. The drive is named Operation Samudragupta. It targeted the maritime drug trafficking of drugs originating in Afghanistan.
