Netflix TV app adds multilingual audio support, enhancing viewing experience

Netflix has rolled out a new update for its TV app, introducing support for multilingual audio across its entire library of movies and TV shows.

The streaming giant announced that users can now select from all available languages while watching content on smart TVs, aligning the experience with that of mobile devices and web browsers.

Previously, viewers could only access the full range of language options on Netflix via mobile apps or through web browsers. With this update, Netflix aims to enhance accessibility for its global audience, catering to the increasing demand for diverse language support.

According to Netflix, the platform receives thousands of requests for language availability every month.

Currently, content is offered in over 30 languages, with popular titles such as Berlin, Squid Game, and All Quiet on the Western Front available in their original languages - Spanish, Korean, and German respectively - as well as English and various other local languages.

The new multilingual audio feature is not yet available on all devices, with Netflix confirming that the latest versions of the app for Android TV and tvOS are still awaiting the update. Users in India, for instance, can currently choose from languages like English, Hindi, and a few regional languages. The update may be gradually rolled out or enabled via a server-side switch in the near future.

Additionally, Netflix recently introduced HDR10+ support for AV1-enabled TVs and streaming devices, providing enhanced picture quality for users subscribed to its highest-tier plan.
