New Delhi: Bollywood superstar Saif Ali Khan praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi, claiming that it looked to him like Modi was working very hard “running the country”. Even handling his hard job, he is “taking time to connect on this level.” Khan said that when he asked Modi how much rest he gets, the PM told him that he gets it around three hours a night, Indian Express reported.
The Kapoor family had invited Narendra Modi to the 100th birth anniversary of Raj Kapoor, the legendary Indian film star and director. Earlier this week, Saif Ali Khan, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Ridhimma Kapoor Sahni, Neetu Kapoor, and Karisma Kapoor, among others, met the PM to invite him.
To celebrate the occasion, RK Films, the Film Heritage Foundation and the National Film Archive of India have organized a Raj Kapoor Film Festival.
Saif Ali Khan recalled his meeting with the PM in a recent interview. He told Hindustan Times that Modi met him after a day at the Parliament. Though Khan wondered whether the PM wanted to rest, he met Khan with a warm smile and was attentive and charming.
I am happy I could have been a part of it through Kareena, Karishma, and Ranbir. What a lovely honour for the family to have a stamp with Raj Sahab to commemorate his 100th birth anniversary,” Khan said.
During the film festival, ten movies of Raj Kapoor will be screened in 40 cities and 135 cinemas across India from December 13-15, The Indian Express reports.
Sharing a picture of the family meeting the PM, Kareena Kapoor Khan wrote, “Thank you, Shri Modi ji, for such a special afternoon. Your warmth, attention, and support in celebrating this milestone meant the world to us.
“As we celebrate 100 glorious years of Dadaji’s artistry, vision, and contribution to Indian cinema, we honour the timeless impact of his legacy, which continues to inspire us and generations to come,” she wrote.
