Bengaluru: Speaking at the Mathrubhumi International Festival of Letters in Kerala last weekend Actor Prakash Raj slammed the film ‘The Kashmir Files’, calling the film nonsense and ridiculing the director Vivek Agnihotri.
The Kashmir Files, produced by Zee Studios, was about the allegedly exaggerated depiction of the exodus of the Kashmiri Hindus from Kashmir in the 1990s.
"The Kashmir Files is one of the nonsense films, but we know who produced it. Shameless. International jury spit on them. They are still shameless. The other fellow, the director is still telling, ‘Why I am not getting Oscar?’ He will not even get a Bhaskar," Prakash Raj was heard at the event speaking on The Kashmir Files.
The film which starred Anupam Kher, Darshan Kumar, Mithun Chakraborty and Pallavi Joshi, among others, had earlier been criticised by Israeli filmmaker Nadav Lapid who called it "vulgar" and "propaganda" during the 53rd International Film Festival of India's closing ceremony.
"I tell you because there is a sensitive media out there. Here you can do a propaganda film. I know, according to my sources, they have invested around ₹2000 crore only to make films like this. But you can’t fool people all the time,” the actor added.
Responding to Prakash Raj’s comment, filmmaker Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri said that the film has been giving sleepless nights to urban naxals even after one year.
“A small, people’s film #TheKashmirFiles has given sleepless nights to #UrbanNaxals so much that one of their Pidi is troubled even after one year, calling its viewers barking dogs. And Mr. Andhkaar Raj, how can I get Bhaskar, she/he is all yours. Forever,” Agnihotri's tweet read.
