Bengaluru: Election officials have said that actor Prakash Raj’s name was not deleted from the electoral roll but was marked as “shifted” after verification found that he was no longer living at his registered address in Bengaluru.
The clarification followed a social media video in which the actor alleged that his name had been removed from the voter list during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise.
In a statement, Jagadish G, Additional District Election Officer and Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike Commissioner, said Prakash Raj’s name appeared at serial number 970 in Part No. 1 of the Shantinagar Assembly constituency when the electoral roll was frozen for SIR-related activities on June 16, 2026, Siasat Daily reported.
Officials said the Booth Level Officer (BLO) visited the actor’s registered address at Garden Apartments on Vittal Mallya Road as part of a door-to-door verification exercise. During the visit, the BLO found that he was no longer residing there.
According to the election authorities, the owner of the apartment said Prakash Raj had moved out around four years ago and that the flat was currently occupied by another tenant. The BLO also sought information from neighbours and the apartment manager before preparing a mahazar and updating the electoral record to reflect his status as “shifted”, officials said.
The apartment manager also reportedly confirmed on August 11 that the actor had moved to a different address.
Election officials said they contacted Prakash Raj during the verification process and that he confirmed he was no longer living at his registered address. He reportedly informed them that he was residing elsewhere within the Shantinagar Assembly constituency.
The authorities said he was advised to submit Form 6 through the BLO responsible for the area where he currently resides. Any such application would be processed in accordance with the Election Commission’s guidelines.
The clarification came after Prakash Raj raised concerns about the SIR exercise and claimed that his name had been removed from Bengaluru’s voter list. Election officials maintained, however, that his name had not been deleted and that the “shifted” status was recorded following field verification of his registered address.
